Secure, Flexible Access Control Across Multiple Sites
Client Overview
Humberside Fire & Rescue Service is responsible for providing emergency response services across East Yorkshire, Hull, and North and North East Lincolnshire, protecting almost one million people. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, their highly trained teams respond to fires, road traffic accidents, flooding, hazardous material incidents, and more. With 12 fire stations in the region, ensuring secure but easily manageable access for personnel was a key priority.
The Challenge
The Fire & Rescue Service required an advanced access control system to manage multiple locations under a single, centralised system. Security needed to be robust and reliable, ensuring unrestricted access for emergency responders while keeping stations secure when unoccupied. The solution also had to support flexible access permissions, allowing different levels of clearance for firefighters, office staff, and contractors.
The Solution
Working closely with Delta Security Systems Ltd, the service identified Paxton’s Net2 system, combined with PaxLock Pro wireless door handles and Entry video intercoms, as the ideal solution.

PaxLock Pro – A wireless access control system integrated within a modern door handle, providing keyless entry with high-security encryption.

Net2 Networked Access Control – Enables the central management of access permissions across all sites, allowing quick and easy updates for staff, contractors, and emergency personnel.

Entry Video Intercom System – Ensures secure visitor access and integrates seamlessly with the existing infrastructure.
The PaxLock Pro system was first installed at the Fire & Rescue Service Headquarters. Its EN179 fire door compliance and wireless connectivity made it an ideal choice for securing office spaces while maintaining easy access for authorised personnel.
The Results
With Net2 access control now in place, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service benefits from a smart, scalable security solution that offers:

Seamless access management – Crew members can move between sites without requiring physical keys.

Improved security – Fire stations automatically lock outside designated time zones, eliminating the risk of doors being left unlocked.

Remote monitoring & roll call reporting – The system provides an instant list of personnel locations in the event of an emergency, enhancing staff safety.

"The Paxton system allows Humberside Fire & Rescue Service to manage and maintain access across 12 stations effortlessly. The ability to control user permissions centrally ensures that security is never compromised, even when crews are out on emergency calls." - Garry Roscoe, Engineering Manager at Delta Security Systems Ltd

"What we really like about the system is the ability to set automatic lock time zones for all our stations. This increases site security and provides greater peace of mind. The roll call report feature is invaluable, giving us a clear record of last known locations in an emergency." - John Mann, Facilities Manager from Joint Estates Service, Melton
Next Steps
Following the success of the initial rollout, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service plans to expand the Net2 system to an additional 21 fire stations, further strengthening security across their network. More PaxLock Pro wireless door handles will also be introduced, providing an easy-to-manage, keyless entry system for all locations.

"Being involved in the early rollout of the PaxLock Pro has been fantastic. It’s an impressive piece of technology that just works. We’re already looking at implementing it across more public sector sites in the future." - Garry Roscoe, Delta Security Systems Ltd
